MEMORIES ARE MADE OF THIS...a handmade non-cricut card

hello you all!
i am praying we all be safe with hurricane sandy...i guess we should call her miss sandy and she is something. what a diva! getting everyone bending at her desires and making everyone so scare of her.
lol
i am just kidding of course, but please be safe and buy some non-perishable items, water and if you have a grill bring it in your garage to cook. that is what i am planning. I went to sam's club this morning and got myself a generator and after reading the instructions online (cause i did not want to open the box just yet) i got intimidated by it and i know my husband who is "mr not handy at all" :- P) will be more intimidated than i am. i will have to return it :(

today is sunday and i did all my wash and house ready for sandy (minus the generator) and i had time to make this pretty card for my shop but as most of the time i like to share these projects here too because, i am not extra crafting much these days.

Memories are Made of This
is a sentiment from one of theresa collin's clear stamps set
4.25" x 5.5 inches tall
look how pretty, oh my! :D
the flower is a petaloo one dusted with diamond dust and inked and distressed the for the look i like so much. you can also see the theresa collins sentiment "memories are made of this" so cute!
---(remember you are at flowerdisco's blog) wink wink wink---are you? hehe

the birds are from a glitz clear stamped set and inked with vintage ink from tim holtz.
awesome image!

here is the whole card.

and a close up of the flower and the diamond dust bling.

hope you like it as much as i do.

hopefully sandy does not do much damage and her fury turns into a mild tantrum and maybe we do not have to scrap a page where "memories are made of this".

and please-please!!!!---do not take me wrong...i am not taking things lightly with this hurricane. i come from an island and know how much damage hurricanes can do but i am trying to put a smile on your face and maybe take your mind off of it, the same way i am trying to take my mind off it too. my husband works in nj and if he gets stuck in work i am here all by myself, with lulu and going crazy about my son who is in boston. so you see, i can't be taking things lightly :(

take care now and a big hug to you all!

ANY OCCASION CARD...using a cuttlebug die

hola,
here i am again, flowerdisco, from flowerdisco's scrap hut
welcoming all of you and sharing another non-cricut card i made for my etsy shop.
i sold another card the other day. i think if i continue taking care of my shop and adding items and not getting discouraged, i will be able to pull this up. i want the profits for some of my son's expenses at college. i do not know about you, but lately, i have had to pinch some pennies, :P

here is a cute card i made using some pretty patterned paper

Any Occasion Card
A2
(4.25" x 5.5")
i haven't used any cuttlebug dies since 2007, nah!--- i am kidding, but it does seems like a few years, :P
this pretty patterned paper is a double sided 6x6 pad from my mind's eye called "on the bright side". if these smaller pads would have been available when i started this hobby, it would had been awesome.
i think these are perfect for the card maker. don't you think? i mean, i know we get more for the money in  the bigger sizes but these smaller pads are so pretty and they fit anywhere. :D
the brackets are from "me & my big ideas".
i was too lazy to try to find a paper that would match the orangy-red so i die cut my flowers on ac white textured cs and inked them with the color i wanted.. the centers were glossed with that plaid liquid embossing i like so much. some sewing was added on the floral paper sides.
i left it blank inside to use on any occasion---from a birthday one to a sympathy card.
and this is it for now
(*-*)
thanks for stopping by my blog:

take care and have a great week!

A THANK YOU CARD...really pretty

hello,
i do not know if you have read some saying their blog contents have been stolen and used in other blogs. the solution for some has been to change their blog format, and you will have to click on the
"read more" to continue reading the post. i do not like that and have avoided blogs where i have to click to continue. BUT, due to the circumstances i am thinking i also will have to change my blog settings.
in the meantime, i am just going to add some kind of text to my blog posts indicating if my blog's name is not on the address bar, or whatever i think of at the moment, they should know they are in a "thief" blog. i think they call this kind of people low life, hehe --i am kidding. i call them low life but in
the cyber world they call them
"scrapers" instead "scrappers" ---lol
i read about here.

so what do you think about these? you can't even blog now without worrying that someone will steal your post contents. it takes precious time to make a project, take pics, edit them, write a post, label it.
you know i do not have any sponsors, that i blog for the love of the craft and to share what i make...and for someone to be so lame and steal what i do, it does not settle to good with me.
so, from now on you will see some added text, something here and/or there, to let people know it is my post, they should be on my blog and not someone else blog.
if that annoys you, sorry. if you have an active blog, i know you will understand.
i thought to share these news with you, so you too, be aware.

now, onto my project.

Thank You
5.5" x 4.25"
awesome pretty paper this one is, right?

it is from k&co, it is an oldie and is called "sweet life".
the thank you sentiment is a sticker i adhered to a scrap of white cardstock, cut around it very meticulously, inked it and popped it on some foam dots. i then added some diamond stickles to the rose petals and voila. a super cute main element for my card.
i used the other side of the patterned paper to punch the border with the doilies ms punch and the fuzzy pink fiber is from an ek adornments pack i still have in  my stash. i also sew some stitches on the card. i really like the use of the sewing machine in my projects.

i home printed the inside- no pic, sorry---with another sentiment i found on the internet. i have forgotten how nice and professional looking a printed inside looks. :P with so many stamps out in the market, you forget you can write anything you want using a word processor and home printer---wink!

well, this is it for now.
you take care and have a great weekend and watch out for the scrapers out there stealing your hard work.

you were just at flowerdisco's scrap hut
---hehe---

AN ASSORTMENT OF CARDS...using a hand stamped flower

hello my fellow crafters...
here i am sharing with you a card set i made using an inkadinkado cling stamps called flower petals and where i got the inspiration for. when i saw the flower made with the petals in THIS BLOG, i was like immediately in love with the results---i needed to try it. while at my local j's, i saw they had these stamps 50% off so from $5.99 i paid $2.99---gotta love a good bargain. wink!!!

here is my take on it
An Assortment of Cards
set of 6-A2 size
using various sentiments on them

and a collage of them all
(sorry again about the etsy shop watermark but you all know i am trying to sell some of my projects there)

I am also entering this to another moxie fab challenge: make a thank you card----ends on 10/15 so hurry if you want to participate.

the petals were hand-stamped with red pigment ink and embossed with a clear embossing powder and cut very carefully. i took each petal and add them to a backing where i aligned them together to create the half flower--- main element on these cards. i loved how they turned out.
the center black button is from a martha's punch and so are two of the borders used. the other one is from recollections brand at michael's.

here is the inspiration in case you do not want to click
(the link for paper lulu's blog is above)
isn't her work beautiful?
i think she does a terrific job.

well, any questions about what i do or how i do it, hehe, please do not hesitate to ask.
i am always willing to help.

take care for now and thanks again for stopping by the hut.

A HALLOWEEN EMBELLISHMENT...using happy hauntings

Good Day friends!
i have been trying to be more productive here for you all :D

today i am sharing what you can call an embellishment for a scrapbooking page, journal, smashbook, or a front for a card, or whatever you want to use it for.

Fright Night
5 inch tall
the base, a rectangle, was made using sweet treats but you can use any other rectangle, lol.
i cut it at 5x3 inches, twice: one to attach the pp and the other one to make a pocket  on the back to store some small pics or journaling. i cut the patterned paper a bit smaller.

the skeleton is from happy hauntings image#2 on the overlay and you will find the bones pressing "shift lock".  i then mounted him on foam tape for that dimensional look we all like.

the banner is from  gypsy wanderings and it is so cute. i had to cut the left side to make it work on my embellishment, and the right side i had to kind of hide it behind the skeleton, for aesthetic reasons, lol.----the "fright night" orange banner is from a k&co pack of embellishments i own.

i made that GORGEOUS black flower using just because cards. i wet it, i crumbled it and inked the edges with silver pigment ink from martha stewart, then added that googly eye in the center....just fabulous!

at the bottom of the patterned paper i used a border, also from martha's: the tombstone one---
oh!!! ---i forgot to mention that the so pretty glittered spider, is from a recollection pack i have in my stash.

 and at the end,
i was so very pleased with my embellishment and the process of it all was very satisfactory. nevertheless, i spent a few hours finicking with it. but that is me, lol.

you take care now while i come back with another project to share.

DAILY LIFE: miss lulu got attacked by another dog while walking her around the neighborhood. she is ok and did not get any punctures but i had to hit and kick the other dog for about 2-3 minutes to let lulu loose and i couldn't. in the meantime lulu was bleeding and i did not know from where: it was from her chin when the dog pushed her down on the pavement. i was screaming for help and a woman from across the street came over to help.  finally someone from the dog's house came over and after a few seconds, he was able to get his dog off my lulu. oh men! what a day. i took lulu to the vet, like i said we could not find any bites but the doctor gave lulu some meds: an antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory just in case.
it turns out the other dog goes to the same vet, is a female dog, was also rescued like my lulu. the real owner called me at night (the man was her father in law) to make sure lulu was ok and to tell me the office visit was paid for. it was a nightmare. from now on i am walking lulu with a wooden stick to hit anyone who even comes near us :)----it was ugly!

and.autumn is here and this is the view i am getting from my kitchen window right now:
the pic above is from day 1 (when i first took the pic on oct 3rd) and the one below is from day 2 (oct 4th)
see how much yellowish the leaves turned in one day?
---nature never stops to amaze me---
the tree is a locust tree.
we have another one on the other side. it has small green leaves which turn golden yellow before they fall. Next to the umbrella you see a yellow lantana. i have that plant for about 5 years now despite they are annuals where i live (zone 6b). in winter, i put it in the garage with my geraniums ( i save those too) and put it out in the spring: still in the same pot too, lol. gotta love a good performer.

this one is the golden leaves carpet on the patio,
ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!
(the leaves get blown off the patio and onto the grass and then they get mowed away and put on the flower beds ---:D)

---hope you enjoyed this post and all the beauty in it---
see you later!
