MERRY CHRISTMAS DIY HOLIDAY CARDS

Hello all, today I am showing you how I made this set of Christmas Cards.
So far I've made 6 of them and I still have a few more to go.
I used cardstock from the Basis Collection (red) and Pop Tones (green). The white is a linen cardstock called Solar White and the brown used on the deer is from a Core-dinations pack.

The card bases or frames were cut using the Fancy Frames Cricut cartridge and My World for the Christmas trees. (Please, do not mind the trees to the left, most of the time I choose die cuts I end up not using).  I cut a few bases, embossed the background, did some distressed inking and stamped some snowflakes and stamped a design on the trees.

I wanted some snow banks behind the deer and I found a cute one in the Give a Hoot cart. I spread some Tombow liquid glue with my fingers on the surface (I should have used a cheapy brush) and then covered with Diamond Dust. 

The deer I die cut with a Cottage Cutz die. 

I glued the tree to the background using Tombow again and added some sequins too. I added the snow bank and the deer and then I decided to cut some acetate and use it as windows for some of the cards. The green card above is one of them. To attach the acetate I chose score tape.

 I do not know which one I like the most. I think they both came out very nice.

(This red one has no acetate on the front).

The greeting is from a Joy Clair stamp and its digital die.

hehe, 

that goes for hi definition since i used that clear liquid embossing on the image.

the card didn't come out the way i wanted it too but i still wanted to show you the stamp i used and the coloring. no blending because that is not my forte just yet, lol.

the dry embossing folder matches the name of the stamp:

paisley bouquet.

here you can see all the hd done with the liquid embossing.

and this is it for today, i just wanted to share how pretty this stamp is. i bet you can do a much better job.

INTRODUCTION TO JOY CLAIR CLEAR STAMPS

Joy Clair

-A Halloween Frame-

hehe, let's start with a nice sneak peek.

i used my die cutter machine for the card base, layers and banner and worked

with 3 different stamp sets on this project:

i started stamping each "halloween" letter on a 1" piece of punched paper using different colors of pigment inks and then outlined each letter with a black permanent ink fine tip marker.

as you can see i distressed most of my cardstock too and later on you will see i "dry embossed" the black base.

as i mentioned before the polka dots banner was cut using my die cutter.
 i wrapped a fuzzy and thin green jute around it for an added detail.

the pumpkin and the boo word were stamped with a dye ink. i stamped the pumpkin first, did some fussy cutting around it and then stamped the boo word. i adhered it to the banner with some foam tape for dimension.

the skulls border to the right was stamped before i adhered the halloween letters keeping in mind their placement.


 the border has 4 joined skulls but i just had room for three of them.

 see the dry embossing on the black layer? it is a chevron shape but hard to see, sorry. i used a core-dination cardstock and after sanding it a nice orange color came through.

here is the finished halloween frame.
(i used a steel die to make a chipboard easel for the back to prop it up).

so what do you think of the stamps? really nice, huh?

CIRCUS ELEPHANTS...

fun?

hopefully no more. 

my post today started just as a crafty project but when i was starting to write, it  just hit me. it hit me hard.

and i started googling about circus elephants while thinking of cecil, the lion that was just killed in the name of fun. i felt really bad. so bad i was just thinking to start another project but no, i chose not to. 

instead, i will use this project as an eye opener. as an awareness. as an advocacy.

and, i will use my banner project to honor all animals, especially the ones suffering in captivity.

let me introduce you to 

-miss ellie or mr ellie-

whatever the gender might be.

at one time we really did not know better, but now we do, right?

right!

anyhow, these letters (font) are from a cricut cart called carousel. it is a beautiful cart.

lots of pretty images.

the embossing was done with a sizzix folder from tim holtz called: springtime backgrounds.

so pretty!

these blue circles were used to add dimension instead using pop dots.

(to tell you the truth i did this not because i have no pop dots but because i was too lazy to get up to get them, lol)

the beautiful pachyderm is an svg from the digi playground.

it was a pleasure to put together.

i did ink the edges for definition and also did some dry embossing on the body with an old fiskars texture plate i had in my stash.

the scalloped banner sections are also from the digi playground.

while googling about them i found out many circuses will be stopping the use of these animals.

 i was happy to read that, we are getting there.

anyway, the pretty musical pp is from heidi swapp sugar chic collection. really pretty paper that is. i bought two packs when it first came out and i did not want to use them. hehe.

and, the pink cs was dry embossed with an old-old fiskars embossing folder. remember them? they were hard plastic and they had one design on one side and another design on the other side? 

i use them when i like to have a subtle embossing.

radio knobs were popped with foam tape, bits of sewing and lots of distressing, lol

i liked that chunky font from the "stamping" cart 

(image #M35805 on design space). 

i thought it was fitting: the thinking of you and the chunkiness and the retro radio. 

well, in my mind all did fit together...have to have an imagination, right? lol.

sooooo, no bits and pieces today.

 and... with the good news come bad news too since  i am almost at the end of my fantastic time with nani ke ola. i am going to miss this group so much.

But... this week i will be visiting my son (anD that will made the bad news feel better, hehe).

 i am giving my son this cute lunch bag i filled with dollar bills. yeap, all ones, lol.

i think he will have good laugh when he opens it.  he is in college so every little bit helps, right?

( after i closed it i realized i could have taken a pic of all the dollars, lol, sorry) did not want to open it again and mess it up, you know that happens, right? :D

this paper i used is from glitz, from the finley collection and is an ombre style as you can see the color green fading away.

i did some dry embossing with my cuttlebug and some tim holtz embossing folder and added some splashes with a dollar stamp using the newer prima chalked ink edgers. i used the color called "old road". i love how it inks too.

i also used some patterned paper from elles' studio to punch out the scalloped circle that is part of my flower. i added a green ombre circle and another circle from the cold country collection. it has an angel in the background and reads "love". that is why i tittle my dollar bills lunch bag LOVE, hehe.

and i finished the lunch bag with a rustic jute twine.

MOMENTS...a very pretty card

time went fast and i am  here again with another project for nani ke ola to share with you all.

have to tell you this small car was a handful, hehe, but here we are.

Moments

all pattern papers used are from

chic tags, cloud nine collection.

 can you see the embossing done on the first gray layer (from bottom to top)?

after the embossing i used a prima chalk ink on the raised surface and on the edges.

here you can see i used the same gray paper to die cut a doilie, i then cut it in half and added it to the front of my card. behind the doilie you can see another pretty patterned paper from cloud nine: the one with the clouds. it is called “dreamy”.

the wood veneer serves as a closure for the doilie and for the sentiment.

the pretty flower to the right is a rub on, also from cloud nine. i used foam tape on the back of the flower for dimension. the mini leaves are from a paper punch. i stamped some lines on them for interest.

let me not forget about the photo corners. they match with a strip i added to the inside.

on this pic above, you see how i mounted the card onto some cardstock, also for more interest.  you can also see where i added that strip of the same yellow patterned paper i used for the photo corners.

after all,  “miss handful moments” turned out very pretty. :D

ENJOY!...with a bit of washi

haha,

a bit of washi tape on the top right corner and above the pretty flower is all this card needed to have my approval, lol

i even sew a double stitch with my sewing machine and at the end..the super cool and trendy film washi tape did the job...in my opinion that it, wink!!!

using my artful delight super awesome kit.

the base is the most beautiful robin eggs blue from bazzill and the fancy pants memories captured patterned papers give this cool card lots of personality. i am loving the chevron colors and the circles and stars.
the so pretty flower and the chalkboard sticker and the addition of the bit of washi were the perfect embellishments too. i loved making this card too. i love when all comes in together so well without fuzzing much, haha. i wish...this card started in a very different way and after stamping, embossing, stapling... and starting all over again....it turned out to be a whole different story at the end, lol. but then, i do fuzz a lot over everything and it is getting worse as i age, ;p

HALLOWEEN VINTAGE BOOT...using a pdf file

this is so cute and since i won't be around by the cafe when october comes, i did not want to loose the opportunity to make this vintage boot image into a witch's boot for halloween.

The Witch's Boot

5.75" x 4.75"

this time what i did was i printed out all the parts in plain copy paper. (i normally print it straight on patterned paper). i cut each piece separately (just a rough cut-leaving around 1/2 inch from the outline) and used a dot of glue on that 1/2 inch to secure it safely to the cardstock i used. i then cut all the parts by hand again, hehe and assembled. actually what i made was a template, wink!

i stamped the stars on the green recollections cardstock (love that cs) and embossed the black recollection cs lightly (did not use the cuttlebug for this step but a bone folder) using a darice embossing folder my sweet friend sheena sent me. the embossing name is crackle, hehe.

maybe you can see it here a bit better. i also inked parts of the outline with a silver ink, just another subtle touch, as you can see.

the bow was made with a glitter nylon tulle i got at m's the other day on clearance and i added a light purple rhinestone that i still love, lol.

the green and black buttons were made with punches, glued on and stickled.

CONGRATULATIONS

i made this cute, easy and simple card for a graduation party we were invited to and i thought it was a nice card to share with you today. 

this is a squared card measuring approx 4" x 4.25".

Congratulations

for this card i used a bazzill black cardstock for my base (which i dry embossed) and a patterned paper from the echo park's collection scoot. 

 i also used a stamp from my mind's eye to stamp the faux stitching on two of the corners.

the stickers (congratulations and the grad hat) are from an old dcwv collection i still have in my stash, :)

the edging was done with an ek success paper punch.

 the school colors (from where this girl is graduating) are black and orange which i tried to incorporate with the stickers.

i normally do not do the inside anymore but since it is a grad card, i needed to finish it.
the sentiment is from a clear stamp. the stars look like the were punched and glued onto the pp but actually they are just the negative backed with cardstock, cool effect.
(oh, and the graphic pattern is the back side of the scoot paper i used on the front)

i hope today's project inspires you to use some of the older products you have in your stash.
