MY SCRAPLIFTING PROJECT

If you would like to see where I found my inspiration for this project,
please click

I ended up using different colors and letters than planned
*-* and a completely unexpected turn *-*
The canvas size is a 5 X 7 inches, the acrylic paint used was Antique Maroon from Americana/Deco Art.
The designer papers used were an old Basic Gray I had for years too, lol. the font is from Don Juan and embossed with the Script embossing folder and the cuttlebug. The butterfly is a chipboard accent I covered with the same BG paper. The jewels are from AC Moore (can't remember the brand, from the jewelry department. The antique post stamps from my son stamp collection. The paper punches used behind the butterfly are from Fiskars. All the papers were inked for the distressed look I was after. Oh! the antennas for the butterfly were made with some jewelry wire I had in my stash, lol and the leathery Destination sticker was from my old stash too. After I finished I decided I had to sand the wood and the canvas a bit for more of an antique look. The lace used was from the dollar bin at AC Moore too inked with different inks to achieve a dirty old look, lol.
Sooo, what do you think?
I know I love how I scraplifted the idea,
but made it absolutely mine at the same time.
I still used the canvas, lace and designer papers like Dawn did.
And... I used the canvas backwards.
Enjoy!

  2. that's what scraplifting is about...taking the inspiration and making it your own! you did it!!!! and with such wonderful results!!! i have those same papers and i have three in their own 12x12 frames and hang them over my bed, i switch them out depending on the bedding i use but maybe i should collage them and scraplift this project and then keep them up year round and maybe i could quit my job to keep up with the projects i want to get done...sorry, my fantasy life!!! your project fantastic and your son knows about the stamps from his collection? i have my son's stamp collection and have decoupage some of them onto a wooden box!
