Hello all, welcome to our blog!
I made this cute gift box to give to a friend of mine to Thank her for being such a sweet friend and help me around the holidays, and I thought to share it with you all. I used the fantastic Stardream Metallic cardstock from Cut Cardstock. It is a beautiful cardstock indeed.
I had in my stash a cute little box (3" in diameter) waiting to be embellished which it was perfect for the piece of jewelry I was going to gift to my friend. I used my Cricut Explore to die cut two peonies flowers I found on the Cricut Giant Flowers cartridge. I cut one at 3" and another one at 1-1/2".
I started cutting a strip of Jupiter (a beautiful and fiery red) which I embossed and adhered to the box bottom, making sure a bit of it was uncovered for the lid to close. I wanted to use a strong adhesive for this 105# cardstock and I chose the score tape.
For the lid, I also cut some strips: one using Fine Gold (gold yellow) and one using Fairway (green). The green strip was cut using a scalloped die cut from another Cricut cartridge and finally I cut a red circle to cover the lid's top.
Then it was time to make the flowers.
It took me a bit of time to break the fibers of this Stardream Metallic cardstock because of its thickness but, the result was very well worthy.
I mainly used a stylus for that job and after all were shaped I inked the edges of all petals and center. I then chose the trusty Mr.Tombow liquid glue for attaching the center and the petals.
If you look at the Cricut handbook in the background, you will see some of the steps to follow but it is really simple attaching the petals after they are formed.
After I glued together the center of the flower, I started gluing the two thin strips at the bottom of each petal, as shown above.
This peony flower consists of 4 large petals, 4 medium petals, and 6 small petals and you start with the smaller ones, then the medium size and last the larger petals until you have formed your flower. Really easy and lots of fun.
The flower's pistil are missing from my start up pics but you can see them in the finished flowers. I used a black ink glaze pen to color some of them.
Along the box, I made a small cardstock sack to gift her some fine chocolates too.
The "thanks" was die cut multiple times using the Onyx (black) cardstock from the same Stardream Metallic Collection using a thin die.
Pretty-Pretty flower this peony flower is as well in real life they are. The Fine Gold cardstock gave these flowers such a beautiful shimmer it is truly gorgeous in addition to the texture it takes after being shaped. Awesome!
Well, I hope you enjoyed this project and give this fabulous cardstock collection a try.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
