"PLAYING WITH SERENADE" by flowerdisco & friends

WO-HOO

Round #3 of
 Serenade
is here,
Yay!!!

This is image #16 and I made a birthday card for all the blogs out there whose birthdays are on September too.
Happy B-day
  is a 3.5" by 9' wide
They remind me of fern branches. The images have their layers but I decided not too use them after all. I cut them but they looked to bulky for what I had in mind. I inked them instead (what a surprise, uh?, lol.).
They are cut at 4.15 inches high and I just adhered the stems to that beautiful yellow paper from Cloud Nine. This way I added more of a realistic dimension in real life.
You can see it better on this photo.
The balloons are from a stamp set I have: Everything Happy. I stamped them onto the yellow patterned paper first and then on a scrap of purple, pink and green cardstock. I then cut them out and added just the top part to the stamped ones and popped just one with double the dose of mini Glue Dots. :)

That little bow is made with a leftover ribbon I used when I made the Card Holder for Robyn aka My Pink Stamper. The ribbon is from Target. And as you can see I need a bit more practice with them :)

Remember you can click on the photos for a bigger view.
The cake is from "From my Kitchen" and is cut at 2.75 inches high with all its layers.

The mini alpha stickers that make up the "happy b-day" phrase are from Making Memories as you might already know. I had them for a while and I finally got to use them again.

The cake was popped up with some American Crafts dots and some foam tape because I did not want to use all AC trying to save for another day, cheapo here!!!, lol. I rather call myself frugal ;-)

 Another view
(The green patterned paper for the branches is from K&Co, the cake was made with leftovers from the Halloween stack I used to make the milk carton and the shadow on the cake is American Crafts cardstock). A bit of stickles: Yellow, Cotton Candy, Lavender and Lime Green.

And FINALLY...the whole card here.
I hope you didn't get bored with me trying to explain everything :)
Now onto my friends projects.

CARD SWAP AND CALLING ADRIANA

Hello my friends
The Card Swap is finally done, Phew!!! :p

I went this morning to the P.O. and mailed out all the packages.
All packages were mailed Priority Mail and with Delivery Confirmation.

but ADRIANA'S.

TO Adriana:
Adriana,  I posted on your blog too that I need your address ASAP. The copy from Fedex is very faded and can't make your address and/or full name. As soon I get your address I will be sending your cards next day IF POSSIBLE.

Thanks again to all who participated in this swap. It was my very first experience being the hostess and it was a good one. Remember, to post the received cards on your blogs and name the person who made it.
As soon you all receive the cards please let me know so I can post all of your cards in my blog too.

I wanted to share my Fall-ing Leaves.
I do not get many big leaves from my trees but from my neighbors,;(

and a pic of my son receiving one of the awards at the Youth of the Month ceremony with the president of the Exchange Club who were the ones who sponsored it.
So sorry about this blurry photo.
Somebody who is not familiar with my camera took the the pic.
You can see grandma is with us.

Well, I better get moving here if I want to finish my laundry and the card for the series.
I don't think I will make it to the gym today ;(

Love you all!!!!

CARD SWAP UPDATE AND GOOD NEWS

HOLA AMIGAS
HELLO FRIENDS!
*-*
I will give you some Spanish lessons one of these days in exchange of more English this way, lol.

Anyhow, tonight we are going to an award dinner ceremony in my son's honor. He was nominated Youth of the Month by our School District. Yay! I am telling you, this kid of mine is special. He also got an invitation from Harvard University...now that is really big too because they do not send those out to everybody. Your grades have to be up there for them to send you something. I do not think he will be going because that is a lot of $$$$$ but he is going to apply anyway, just to see.

The card swap is ready to go out this week if not Monday of the coming week.
I have to say it was a project and it did take a long time after I messed up my numerical system a few times. I wanted to be fair to all so I started giving you a number as I was receiving them and then I made a table format with my word document to start distributing them. Well, when I was getting to the end it wasn't working as well because of whatever reason I am not going into details, but I did make a copy of it I am sending it to you.
I believe all of you will get one card from each participant (if I didn't mess it up again) and some might get 2 or three from one participant. I have some extra cards from most of you and I will send those back to you too.
All I have to do is close the packages, write your addresses and take them to the P.O. but grandma is coming tomorrow to go to the ceremony with us and I do not know if I will have time to finish or not and then the weekend is here and then it is until Monday.
I am so very happy how this swap turned out and I learned a few things and if I learned them well the next swap will be more organized.

The good news are I made it to the Cuttlebug Spot DT.

I will be working with Nilda from the message board and owner of the blog and a few very talented ladies. I am very excited. It is little by little that I am crossing things out of my list of things to do before I die, haha.
We start on October and for me it will be for three months God willing. I will be very busy and if I am not around your blogs as I should/would like, please remember me and accept my sincere apologies.
I am addicted to your blogs so I will be around. Maybe not as much as I would like to... but yeah! I will be around.

Love to All of you and thanks for all the love and support you guys give me.

"PLAYING WITH SERENADE" by flowerdisco & friends

Hello friends, followers and visitors.

I hope you all are doing well.

I want to take this moment to remind you all that this is a very busy time of the year for me and my family and I might be not be as productive in the blogging world as usual. :(

On the other side,

I am very happy to be doing the series with friends. We all have something to bring to the table with our different styles. If you missed our Serenade premiere last Wednesday, please click here to take a look.

For this week I have image #9...a butterfly on its side,
and this is
the huge card I made with it.

Giggle
8 inches
Isn't pretty?
I wasn't too sure at first, but after adding this and that, I really-really like it.
My friend Helen from long live paper and scissors asked me if I had a plan when I did my clipboard. I am quoting her here:
""wow! i wish when i did my homework last minute, that it turned out this incredible!!! was the idea in your head already? i always love your colour palette, it is so energizing! it;s a winner in my books!!!""
My answer to that is I hardly ever have a plan. I might see something on a magazine or blog and get inspired but it always ends up being totally mine and none from the inspiration. I just sit and and whatever comes to my mind I start with and keep playing with it, adding this and that and sometimes it just doesn't work. But, that  is life too...we don't get everything we want, lol.
Any how, I did not win the ABC challenge.
You can go to
http://live-teach-create.blogspot.com/2010/09/sept-abc-challenge-winner.html
and see who won. It's ok. I know the clipboard came out awesome.

well, back to my
Giggle card
*-*
Did I say it is huge at
8 inches?
 here it is again
Besides the butterfly from Serenade, the rest of the cuts are from Accent Essentials.
The papers are from My Mind's Eye Bloom and Grow collection (the same paper collection I used for my Cookbook) and the red is from American Crafts cardstock.
I added some stickles, some faux stitching, some jewels and a piece of orange ribbon.

This is the inside of it.
The sentiments are from Hampton Art clear stamp set called Giggles.

(when I welded the card base using the Accent essentials image #31 I also used hide contour to hide one of the layers and I also used the mirror image feature to make the images weld proportionally. I also inked everything).
Remember you can click on the images for a larger view.

Now, onto my friends projects.

ALTERED CLIPBOARD

I am trying to keep myself a bit better organized because I am getting senile here and having too many senior moments and forgetting things more than normal, lol.
A while ago, I received an altered note book from Julie, a friend from my days of being one of Robyn's designers, and I have been using it to write down about challenges and ideas and such and so :)

I had written a challenge to do from an online store. This challenged needed to be submitted  by
Sept 15 midnight so I started yesterday after coming home from the gym and before I left with my son's for his senior pictures. Talking about last minute... almost, lol.

The challenge theme was Back to School and had to have the ABC's. Hehe!!!
You might wonder what in the world are ABC's other than alpha's.
Well, it does includes letters and It goes like this:
A- alpha's
B-  button, brads and bling (I had to have the three of them) and
C-  for chipboard, chipboard, chipboard

After putting my thinking cap and forcing my right side of the brain to work I came up with an
Altered Chipboard
 GORGEOUS, ISN'T?

I AM SO PROUD OF MYSELF :)

I see now and then that non cricut projects can be and are
BEAUTIFUL!
Don't you think my clipboard is to die for?
*-*

NOW I want you to compare these two photos below:
You will see something is missing. I already told you I am going senile and I totally forgot one of the B's....the one for BRAD, lmbo now, BUT
I was really mad at myself before.
How in the world I forgot to add a brad if I had everything written down?
You tell me!
*_*
Well, it is time I explain what I did, what I used and what supplies were involved.
I had two of this small but thick chipboard clipboards I bought at M's a while ago and they measure almost nine inches across and seven inches high. I only used one for this project, lol.

The clip was to the left and I wanted a different look so I took my crop-a-dile and made two holes where I wanted them to screw my clip down.
The paper I used for the background was already blinged up and is from My Mind's Eye.
So there you found my bling :)
The alpha's you find them to the bottom right on a piece of altered and punched paper. The alpha's are from a very old stickers pack I bought long-long time ago from a company called Markings
The "September" word was stamped with G-Studio clear stamp and the paper punch is
Binding Edge from EK.

Are you following yet? :)

I also added more chipboard...but where? Well, it has been covered with red textured cardstock from American Crafts, stamped with the numbers and embellished with the buttons...
it is the tag to the left, cute uh?.
I also stamped on that beautiful blue grid paper with an old stamp I got unmounted from Ebay like 3 years ago and never used before. The chrome square is the forgotten brad and I can't remember where I got them but I think maybe from Joann's.
The "Explore" word is another G Studio clear stamp and so are the numbers

More extras are some eyelets holding the chipboard tag, the twine I inked to make it brownish, another chipboard sticker that reads "Field Junkie" and the polka dot ribbon. Oh! and the staple I used to bind the two blue notes. lol.

The rest you see on the paper is from the paper itself...gorgeous.
and I love ink sooooo everything was inked for more definition.
So there...
you just saw my
 ABC's
Should I win?
Will see!

Enjoy!

"PLAYING WITH SERENADE" by flowerdisco & friends (WEEK 1)

Welcome to our new series

"Playing with Serenade by flowerdisco and friends"

Today it is our first  Showcase of the series.
Serenade Creative features are:
Layer and Shadow
You can use it them as follows or any combination you wish:
Base non-shift, Base shift, layer and shadow.

My image for this week is image #2:
a Peach.
(I wanted to make it very simple.
I want beginners in the hobby not to feel they have to "super do it" to make a beautiful card).

Loving you is easy peasy!
card
by flowerdisco

 Isn't the paper gorgeous?

It is from K&Co BW Mira Designer Mat Pad.
(I do own a lot of K&Co since I really like it, cuts well with my Cricut Expression and is locally available).
The sentiment is from My Pink Stamper clear stamp set called Fruit and Veggie Puns.

The peach was cut at 2 inches
The small mat I adhered the peach to, is a shape from the cricut cart "All Mixed up". I popped up the leave layer and covered it with Lime Green Stickles (glitter glue). The ric rac ribbon is from my supplies. I also added some soft shimmer to the front layer with my Yasutomo Pearlescent Watercolor Set.

These are a bunch of talented ladies here.
What do you think?

Serenade
can be a bit problematic with some of its images when you are assigned just one image to work with and, these ladies did an outstanding job, in my opinion.

Hopefully you enjoyed this series part 1
and come back
next Wednesday
when we will be showcasing round two.

Hugs to all!
