PAPER DOLL DRESS UP SERIES---episode 1

hello

here we are with what i decided to call episodes and today is episode 1 of the
paper doll dress up series.

hope you enjoy it
i know is an old cart but i love going back and try them since most of us do not even know what's where, lol

i was assigned image #5 on page #33
it is a prom girl.
here is my take, no prom girl here
(remember you can click on the pics for a bigger option)

see how cute? i think she is--:-)
again, my papers here are scraps and her dress is slightly altered.

love her white shoes and the border was made with crepe paper.
here is my way of adhering it for ruffling:
---a glue stick works better. draw a line of glue on the card base, put the paper on top and start gathering it with your fingers. this way your paper slides nicely while you ruffle it.

:P i did the sewing manually because i did not want my sewing machine all gummy after the fact.
the little dots on the crepe paper are from one older collection of heidi swapp i bought at j's for merely pennies.

--------
to my teammates projects now
---this time i will give just a peek of their works because i think they deserve to be visited,
i hope you do not mind-:)---

i think these projects rock!

this is it for now,
will have another PDDU episode next wednesday.

thanks for stopping by.

GARDENING....for the "wanna" be gardener (like me)

i hurt my lower back on the 11th so i coulnd't do much yard work.
it was really bad and the dr gave me some nice pain killers. even i still have pain i was able to do some fiddling around my yard.

i had started some seeds indoors. they are doing nice, :-)
i will post when they bloom.
(trying to keep a garden journal here too)

and my tulips still going.
look at them. this pic was taken today sunday.

and the witch hazel tree i showed you before, is leafing already.

look at my ferns.

and i do not know the name of this bush but it is really pretty and is an evergreen too.
i have two of those but the other one is re-birthing, hehe

*****

well, wednesday is PDDU time if you want to stop by.

thanks again for stopping by the hut.

PAPER DOLLS DRESS UP---is opening with a spring theme tag

---as planned and on time---
here is my tag

(i am changing my style a bit for this series, i want it to be clean and simple)

Little Lamb
2.55"w x 2.80"h
the lamb you will find on page #77 (accesories 3) and the oval is from page #69 (accesories 3).
the oval was cut at 3.15"w x 3.60"h.

---i normally use my gypsy and that is why my sizes are a bit weird but you can round them if you do not own the gypsy or you can use the cricut craft room for all your cricut projects, planning and cutting.---

i  also did some hand stitching which seems to be so trendy right now.

---i am not a trendy person unless i really like the style, hehe---

------------------------

now onto my teammates work

---you can click on their names to got to their blogs---
and, you can click on any pics for a bigger view.

BEAUTIFUL GRANDMA... a non- cricut card

just to share
the card base is a beautiful pink cardstock from recollections.
---i am really liking this brand---

the sticker is from crate paper, the ribbon from martha stewart and the patterened paper from k&co. the pink button from webster pages and the stick pins from tim holtz. the grandma was stamped with a g-studio clear stamp.

as you can see, i just don't do cricut, lol.

beautiful indeed.
---especially for grandma's mother's day---

take care fellows,
see you tomorrow with the pddu series.

GIRLS NIGHT OUT---using going places

this is another oldie of a cartridge but with so many nice images, i am thinking i should dissect it soon too...hehe

i made this card with it

Fun in the City
5.5" x 4.25"
i think is even cooler in real life (big wink)

you will find this image on page #120
 (#39 on the overlay)
and cut at 4" high

the patterned papers are from my mind's eye and the little bling is from webster pages. i had those for a long while and finally put them to good use.
---i love how this color combo looks---
such an easy card!

REMEMBER, we start a new series this wednesday. we will be working with paper dolls dress up, in case you want to stop by and look at our projects.

thanks so much for stopping by!

DAILY LIFE: well, as you might know by now, i did not get picked to be in the  jinger adams design team. :(
i was a bit apprehensive when i applied and now i see i did not stand a chance among the talented ladies who made it. plus, i had an older project :(. when i submitted it, they were not asking for a new project. i guess they changed it and i did not know. i am  very happy for the awesome ladies who made it, they have more experience, businesses and some even work for pc. good luck to all of them. if you want, click HERE for jinger's blog to see who made it. i can't wait to see what jinger has planned for them.
on another hand, my son was over for the weekend. he came in the bus and went back on a plane. he is having THE LIFE, hehe. i am so happy for him and he made my whole weekend while over. now, until may when he will be coming for summer vacations. time flew and did not: all at the same time. he is almost done with his freshmen year already. and i survived it...hehe!

SCRAPS CARD---using accent essentials

i have been browsing the cricut forum here and there after not been around for almost a year or so. there are so many venues for inspiration i just never made time to be around again.
last night i found a challenge, very easy challenge: use a cricut flower.
 here is what they ask:
"our challenge is called"April Showers Brings Us Flowers" so you are to create a card, layout, or papercraft project that contains at least one Cricut cut flower. This is a very easy challenge and we hope that many of our friends will enter. This challenge will start today and run through Saturday, April 14 till 9 pm eastern time. Please no backlinks. Enter as many times as you like, but link each project separately. Now take a look at what our talented design team created to give you some inspiration."

the blog is called
(click on the name to go to the blog)

My Flower Card
4.25 x 5.5
this card is made totally of scraps. the flower i had in my "cuts for another day" stash and it is from accent essentials. the small flower i really do not remember but i know is from another cricut cart. the papers are from k&co---an old box i purchased a WHILE ago and it has the most beautiful patterned papers ever. I do like k&co a lot but i do not buy much anymore because i have so much of it, lol.

even the ribbon knot is a scrap. hehe

i will add a sentiment when i need to use it

---i have those day where i just want to use scraps---
and enter challenges and i am on one of those stages, lol.
maybe next week i will be doing something else. who knows!

if you want to participate in this challenge go ahead and click on their link. i do not know the ladies who run it but it is an easy and fun challenge.

thanks for stopping by!

PAPER DOLLS DRESS UP SERIES---announcement

for a long time i have desired to explore another cartridge. i chose paper dolls dress up because it has so many images in we are not even aware of or maybe we have forgotten about. i did purchase the new paper dolls teen scene but that one is going to wait its turn.

how did i decided to start a new series now when i have so much gardening to do???
well-well, thanks to my friend sheena's email saying she was kind of bored, lol

i then contacted two more persons because i could not remember whom i had promised to be in my next series...hehe and that makes the four of us for this series.

here is what you need:
the paper dolls dress up cartridge---- if you want to play along in your blog
thew following ladies are the ones playing along with me:

we will start the series on april 18th (wednesday) with a spring theme tag and
on april 25th we will start dissecting paper dolls dress up...hehe

as always,
thanks for stopping by my humble blog.

A CLOWN--- using carousel

i made this card for this weeks challenge at
The Cuttlebug Spot

Happy Days
4" square card
this is the clown from the carousel cartridge---cricut lite-- i have just used once before.
the challenge at "the cuttlebug spot" is a sketch.
check it out here.

as you can see i made a mess of my balloons using the aleene's paper glaze. i guess i had some tiny bubbles i did not see. i do not like aleen's glaze much. it takes forever to dry but i lost/misplaced my brand new bottle of glossy accents, grrr! every time i re-organize my craft room, i loose/misplace things. hehe

the blue background paper is dcwv, dry embossed with a cuttlebug folder called "diamonds in the rough" and, sanded. the patterned paper is from k&co and the white you see on the clown's shoes, is a bit of a mess up when tearing. they say "there are no mistakes in crafting, just opportunities for embellishments", so i inked it, hehe
the happy days is from a k&co tag i just pulled apart to use the sentiment.

see the buttons? they are actually googly eyes...hehe

i decided to frame the inside of the card
well, this is it for now.

did you hear i won a nice candy bundle at shantaie's place?
she is one of provo craft designers. and i love her work.
if you click on her name you will go to her blog to see what a talented lady shantaie is.
i was so happy because i was having a very disgusting day when i read about it. so....a big yay for me. she already shipped it. another big yay, lol.

again,
thanks so much for stopping by and have a great week.

A BIT OF GARDENING....early spring

just to share if you like flowers like me.
these ones are called wallflower and they are perennials. i just bought them and need to plant.

these are grape hyacinths

this is my two years old weeping cherry tree

these are tulips, grape hyacinths and hyacinths i planted last year with a false cypress in the background. the cypresses are slow growing but in the future i will need to move them.

bleeding hearts i inherited with the house

some of my already spent daffodils.

we are planning a bigger garden in the backyard. i always saw myself growing old and caring for my flowers and veggie garden. i hope i live long enough to enjoy it.

 ENJOY SPRING
-new life, new beginnings-

MISSING YOU...using tim holtz umbrella man

just to vary a bit from cricut, lol, i have made a cute card with the famous umbrella man sizzix die from tim holtz collection.

Missing You
3.5" x 5.5"
i used this green textured cardstock from the paper studio, very similar to dcwv and it cuts very nice with the cricut, in case you are wondering.
the yellow patterned paper is from crate---and yes! i am buying more paper, hehe
the tab is from a my mind's eye clear stamp and the sentiment from a g studio one.

cute scalloped borders are done with a fiskars punch and the ribbon i believe is from american crafts.
you know one of my weakness is the ink distressing. i just love the definition it gives to my projects besides the joyfulness i feel when i get in my grungy style....i just love inking. :D

below is the complete card and if you noticed, i added some rain drops on the green cardstock using the liquid embossing from all night media. i also added some pearls with some liquid pearls i had in my stash for a while.

-mr. umbrella man is missing you-

thanks for stopping by my scrap hut!

A BANNER... using my old george and basic shapes

my son was home 2 weeks ago for a spring break and since he was so exhausted from classes i wanted to remind him every moment he needed to relax. it worked a bit but with so many friends looking for him, he just had a one or two day to  do nothing, lol.
i made this banner and hung it on one of his bedroom windows as a reminder...hehe

i used george and basics shapes because i was too lazy to look what other cartridge i have had a banner like this one. i lost all my files with the last gypsy update, so i do not have a pic of the welding that was done to recreate it. i do remember was the rectangle and a triangle.
i made the rosettes myself and can't remember what font i used.. i used twine to hang it and it looks so darn pretty in his room.

this one pic is on my entrance to the kitchen so i could get good light for the photograph.

i thought to share it with you. they sell them on etsy for over $25 and i have seen them for even more. they are worth the money, you can embellish them as much as your heart desire. this one was for a male so not much bling but just some. hehe

----------------------

DAILY LIFE: we decided to put all the stuff that was already toted in the attic and the rest that was in cardboard boxes we put in the garage. we couldn't deal with the chaos we had. hehe. now, another 7 years before i deal with it again. rotfl.

back to normal
just a few small totes by the big couch, i will remove soon, lol.
Phew!

 thanks for stopping by,
you are all very welcome anytime.
HUGS!
