XOX BANNER

hello bloggers, family and friends.
hope you are ok.
we skipped the blizzard and got just a few inches of snow. i will put pics at the end of the post.
up north of us were the worse.
hopefully, all are well and no one lost nothing.

today i want to start the series using bits and pieces
they will be scheduled to go up on wednesdays.

i was late with my first, :(
i started making this banner yesterday, then it got too late to take pics.
i took the pics this morning in a hurry so excuse me if they are not the best.
i have many things to do today and wanted to post asap in case i do not have a chance later on.

here we go.

XOX
a valentine's banner

if you will be following this series i think it is important to explain this:
the images in design space are not in the same order of the handbook, as you might already know.
i will be identifying any images used in these projects by the number they were assigned in design space.

---polka dot tag is #M100103
---hearts #MFB1D2
---font is from cake basics

the tags were cut at 4.25"
but you can cut them smaller or bigger, it is your preference.

---hope you like it---
i do not think i will be able to do every single image but i will do the ones i like the most.

now here are some pics from the snow:

WELCOME HOME card.....inspired by teri anderson

hello to all,
it has been a while , i know.
i have been lost in the yard, practicing what i have been learning about gardening :P making homemade potions, and planning and planning and planning where the plants will go, their needs and so on. (wink)
i have learned a lot but there is much more to keep learning.

i check my blog and the web at night and while browsing the paper crafts magazine site i read about a challenge/submission. below, is the pasted copy of what i read:

Ever browse through a Paper Crafts magazine or special issue and created a card or project inspired by one of the designs you saw in the publication? We want to hear your story and see your creation! Maybe you took the design of a birthday card and made it into a Valentine, or maybe you switched up the colors to take a Mother's Day card to a Father's Day card. Submit an image of your Inspired By project, tell us where we can find the original in our magazine, and you just might have your card featured in the Paper Crafts Connection section of one of our issues!

and..... since i was having a "paper withdrawal" anyway-- hehe,  i decided to make it my inspiration,
below is my take on it.

 Welcome Home
5.25"w x 4.0" h
some of you might recognize these houses. they are from the dcwv "songbird" collection. i chose this row of birdhouses for my card.
the background paper is from my mind's eye: "everyday flair" and, the orange border is the reverse side of that same mme pp. the thin red strip is from my scraps and so is the brown border (punched with a martha stewart border punch). the blue zig zag border was done with decorative scissors.

the "welcome home" phrase came from the "cake basics" cricut cartridge. i used the gypsy hide contour feature for this because i wanted the phrase to be separated.
in the cart you get both together: one on top of the other and it was not going to work for my card.
the clouds were punched and stamped, the heart was also paper punched.

oh! i almost forgot to mention that my go-to gal was teri anderson. i found her project on page 72 of the july/august 2012 issue. i will edit this post during the weekend to add a pic of her project. it is late now and tomorrow i have other things to care for :(
ETA: teri's card
teri's card is titled: "see you soon" and i titled mine: "welcome home", get it?
 i am so silly, :P

(i do not think i will submit it to the magazine because the magazine prefers current products and this songbird paper is pretty old, in the crafty world anyway, hehe, but then, who knows---maybe i will submit, just for fun).
you should too.

well, i hope i have inspired "you" the same way these gals have inspired me. :P

thank you for stopping by
and have a great weekend!
