welcome to the grand finale of the 

halloween haunted village.

if you have been following you already know i took the mission of reproducing this

halloween haunted village as my digi playground project for the month of october.

i started with this cat house on part 1 but changed my mind about the colors. 

the new part 1 but actually part 2 of the haunted village can be found here and includes: the bat house, the cat house, the crow house and the haunted tree; part 3 is just some sneak peaks of the finale but if you want to see them they can be found here.

today i am revealing the completed project and i certainly hope you enjoy it as much as i did.

know that most of these buildings can be adapted for any other occasion: just change your colors and do some snipping here and there.

(be warned that all the posts about this project are pic heavy since i spent a great amount of time with details i wanted to share with you)

the village consists of 11 pieces: bat house, cat house, crow house, ghost mansion, pumpkin mansion, spider house, a witch tower, a cemetery, a coffin,a tree and a fence (not included). 

below i am showing the last buildings that were made to finish the village. as i mentioned before, the rest of them are here.

these coffins can be made into candy containers too: just add the candy before gluing them

closed.

remember all the buildings with the exception of the bat and crow house have openings on the bottom to accommodate a battery candle for a nice glow especially if you use vellum for the windows.

A HALLOWEEN TOWN- PART 1

hello all,

as you might already noticed, i enjoy making halloween projects.

this halloween haunted village was designed by miss carina gardner from the digi playground. 

they all screamed at once: 

"make me, make me". 

lol.

i decided to start with the "cat house" and hopefully i can finish the entire town before halloween.

i will be posting as i finish each one.

CAT HOUSE

 

 -front of house-

as you can see i did not "open" all the windows to leave some as if they were closed and added some spanish moss as for dead grass.

the cats are tiny measuring just .62" x .84" tall. 

i did cut an extra one a bit bigger, mirrored it and placed it on the left.

i stickled them all with gunmetal, including the two on the roof.

(to place them up there i just added a bit of glue to their paws)

 i added another ghost to the one side (cut them a tad bigger too) along with some pumpkins from another svg file.

 i also used the acorns from this acorn box, which i got as a bonus with my purchase.

(in case you wonder about the cardstock used: the black with silver glitter is from dcwv and the rest is from recollections).

CHINESE LANTERNS #2 AND #3

hello all,

i finally had time to finish the other 2 chinese lanterns but i went with a different look.

3D Cricut Chinese Lanterns

4" tall

using cricut design space

 -i used vellum behind the branches-

 -not sure if the second piece goes on top or not-

 i did make some adjustments to the flaps. 

i even cut some slivers of them.

i used martha stewart all purpose gel adhesive and some sookwang tape (aka scor-tape)

-this color is a soft peach-

hope you like them despite they are a bit time consuming.

these ones below were practice but thought to share them with you as well

and there you have it.

we celebrated it the first day of spring with like 7 of snow, yay! :(

after all was mostly melted.

CHINESE LANTERN NUMBER ONE

i had fun making this cute and fun
dimensional chinese lantern.

i want to make two more and i will post them as soon as i am done with them.

this is my first one.
i do not know what it says, i hope is not a bad word, lol
if you know the meaning, can you please tell me?

i found the lanterns in the cricut design space. the lanterns are digital images: no physical cartridge that i know of. i am sure you can also find them in the cricut craft room.

the completed project size is:

 5"tall and about 3-3/4"wide

the flowers i had made a while back an are from the flower shoppe cricut cartridge an the leaves are from a tim holtz decorative die: autumn gatherings

the lanterns and or the flowers are not hard to put together but it you take your time before gluing, the better.
hehe, experience speaking here.
the dry embossing was done with a darice folder: basket weave. i think is so pretty.

is the pic of the hanging piece (grey/gray color) if you do hang them-
i made them a little too long, i know...so take that in account, :)

that grey/gray part goes inside the top opening. for a while i was trying to wrap it around it, lol. i even cut another piece thinking i had messed up the size, duh! then i realized what i was doing wrong.
ETA: 3/20/15--- the grey/gray part it is supposed to go on the outside and not in. i was looking at some other lanterns yesterday and realized this :( sorry.
-if i hang them outdoors, i will use twine/jute/ribbon instead. this i used here was a strip of cardstock-

cricut has many different lantern styles an they are all pretty.
hope you try them.

life is going faster than needed.

did i tell you son is graduating this may? i think i did and...
he is graduating with honors: cum laude
-we were just informed-

yay! we are so happy for him. he has been a great kid all his life.
not one headache or worry from him, ever.
he deserves this and more and i praise god for keeping him out of harm ways.

graduating with a major on computer sciences and a minor on graphic designs
from boston university it has not been easy but it has paid off.

mmm, i wonder if boston will still have snow on the ground when we get there in may. there is so much to melt, it has been a disaster for them this winter. so sad.
and the freezing cold, brrr!
